Marc Cucurella's future at Chelsea has become the subject of intense speculation, with the Spanish left-back's representatives fielding approaches from some of Europe's biggest names. The Blues have now made clear they will entertain offers for their academy graduate – provided the right price is met.

Chelsea's valuation stands at €70m (£61m), a significant sum for a player who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Brighton in summer 2022. That original deal was structured at £55m upfront, with add-ons potentially taking the total to £62m. After a shaky opening chapter in west London, Cucurella evolved into a cornerstone of the side and remains a consistent performer whom supporters have embraced.

The 27-year-old's exit strategy became apparent following Chelsea's Champions League elimination at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in March. Rather than stay silent, Cucurella launched into a pointed critique of the club's direction, questioning whether a squad laden with inexperienced talent could realistically challenge for major honours.

"We lacked experience," he explained. "For a lot of players, it was the first time playing a match of that calibre, and we paid the price. Results like that are always hard to take. You are fighting and training every day only to realise, at the very end, that when games matter, we are still a bit away from the top level."

The full-back acknowledged Chelsea's long-term vision but suggested the present required a different approach. "I understand this is part of the club's policy, and that they want to take this direction – signing young players and looking to the future. But, for all of us who are still here and want to win big things, moments like this make you feel discouraged. We have a good core of players. The foundations are there. But to fight for major trophies such as the Premier League or the Champions League, you need more."

He continued: "Signing young players only might complicate achieving those goals. Against PSG, we lacked players that had gone through situations like that. You need time as well, and I know the young players are the ones that will have the experience in the future. But you need to find the balance between both worlds."

Cucurella also dangled the possibility of a Barcelona return, suggesting his boyhood club would prove an irresistible proposition. "It would be hard to turn down," he admitted, remarks that have only intensified the circling of interested parties.

Manchester City – now helmed by Enzo Maresca, the very manager Chelsea sacked – have registered their interest, as have Atletico Madrid. Barcelona, naturally, remain attentive to developments surrounding their former player.

According to reports, Chelsea are relaxed about the situation given Cucurella's three-year contract. However, the club has signalled a willingness to negotiate should an appropriate bid arrive. Multiple clubs are now aware of his availability and are monitoring the situation closely.

Atletico Madrid are hoping to strike a deal below €50m (£43m), a figure well short of Chelsea's asking price. The timing is not insignificant – a World Cup looms, and Cucurella appears set to feature prominently for Spain, widely regarded as one of the tournament favourites.
