Leicester City's teenage winger Jeremy Monga has become a hot property this summer, with Arsenal seemingly leading the race to secure his services—only for Brentford to muscle in on the deal.

The Gunners have made landing a new left-winger a priority during this transfer window, buoyed by their Premier League title success and a run to the Champions League final, where they suffered a narrow penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. That run to Europe's showpiece event has bolstered their financial firepower considerably.

Monga, just 16 years old, has attracted considerable attention from top clubs across England and Europe. Leicester have fielded as many as eight formal enquiries for the prospect, with his valuation potentially exceeding £10 million—though the matter could well end up going to tribunal to settle a fee.

Arsenal appeared to be moving decisively. Ben Jacobs reported that the Gunners were actively engaged in talks with the youngster, while BBC Sport's Sami Mokbel confirmed that Monga is receptive to a move to north London this summer. Italian journalist Nicolo Schira subsequently claimed that personal terms had already been agreed between the player and Arsenal, with the club working to finalise arrangements with Leicester.

But Brentford have now stepped in, sensing an opportunity. The Times reports that Thomas Frank's outfit are positioning themselves to pip the Gunners to Monga's signature, with Leicester's relegation expected to precipitate the winger's exit from the King Power Stadium.

Crucially, Brentford's appeal lies in their ability to guarantee meaningful first-team exposure—something Arsenal, despite their resources, cannot match to the same degree. Monga is understood to be keen on maintaining his development trajectory, and the prospect of regular football at the Gtech Community Stadium could prove decisive.

The situation will become clearer in the coming weeks. Monga is scheduled to turn 17 on 10 July, at which point he becomes a professional at Leicester. That milestone will trigger a payment obligation for whichever club secures him. If Leicester and interested parties cannot reach agreement on a fee, tribunal proceedings will determine the transfer value.
