Liverpool have shifted their recruitment focus toward Bradley Barcola after Yan Diomande elected to pursue a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports emerging this week.

The Reds had earmarked Diomande as the ideal successor to Mohamed Salah, with FSG pushing hard to land the RB Leipzig sensation from Ivory Coast, who is currently featuring at the 2026 World Cup. Yet Liverpool's pursuit has hit a double roadblock: Leipzig's reluctance to part with their prized asset and the 19-year-old's own preference for the Parc des Princes.

Rebuffed on that front, Liverpool have now trained their sights on PSG's French winger Barcola instead.

Sky Sport Switzerland correspondent Sacha Tavolieri revealed on June 29 that the Reds are in direct dialogue with PSG regarding Barcola's availability. The journalist noted that Diomande's imminent transfer to the French capital has effectively opened the exit door for the Frenchman, who is expected to depart this summer.

Liverpool have made fresh overtures to Barcola's representatives over recent days, TEAMtalk has confirmed. Sources indicate the 23-year-old is receptive to leaving PSG before the window shuts, with his camp providing encouraging signals to the Anfield club.

The stumbling block remains the price tag. PSG are holding firm at €120million (£103.3m) for Barcola—essentially the fee they will hand to Leipzig for Diomande.

Barcola's CV hardly screams bargain. Since arriving at PSG in 2023, the France international has collected three Ligue 1 championships, two Coupe de France wins, and a pair of Champions League medals. He is currently on World Cup duty with the French national side.

For Liverpool, securing him would represent a statement of intent, though the financial commitment required means this will be no quick or simple transaction.
