Bournemouth Suspend Jimenez Pending Investigation Into Social Media Allegations

Bournemouth have taken the decision to sideline Alex Jimenez ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Fulham, with the club launching a formal investigation into allegations that emerged on social media overnight.

The 21-year-old Spanish defender, signed permanently from AC Milan in February following an initial loan spell, will play no part in the fixture as Bournemouth respond to claims he sent direct messages to a 15-year-old girl.

Jimenez has been a standout performer for the Cherries this season, making 32 appearances as the south coast club chase Champions League qualification. His permanent contract, agreed earlier this year, keeps him at the Vitality Stadium until 2031.

In an official statement, Bournemouth acknowledged "the seriousness of the matter" and confirmed the investigation is underway. The club added: "AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back, Alex Jimenez. The club understand the seriousness of the matter and it is currently being investigated. As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow's Premier League game against Fulham and the club will be making no further comment at this time."

The right-back's absence represents a significant blow to Bournemouth's push for a top-four finish, with the investigation set to continue in the coming days.
