Kvaratskhelia Emerges as Arsenal's Summer Winger Priority After Champions League Heroics

The Gunners' sensational week has put them firmly in the driving seat for silverware on two fronts. Following their 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, Mikel Arteta's side have secured passage to the Champions League final on May 30 in Budapest, where they'll face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. Meanwhile, Manchester City's failure to break down Everton—drawing 3-3 on Monday—has left them five points adrift in the Premier League title race, with only one game remaining.

That impressive run through Europe has lined Arsenal's coffers considerably. Sky Sports reports the Gunners have banked £122m from their Champions League campaign, with a further £10m available should they triumph in the final.

With finances bolstered and momentum building, Arsenal are now eyeing reinforcements for the summer window. Sky Sports has confirmed that Kvaratskhelia, PSG's Georgian sensation, stands at the top of their shopping list for the left wing. Newcastle's Anthony Gordon is also under consideration, as is Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, who impressed during the first leg of Arsenal's knockout tie in the Spanish capital.

The Gunners maintain they're not forced sellers this summer, though the report notes that outgoings will be necessary to maintain financial sustainability whilst strengthening the squad.

Kvaratskhelia's credentials hardly need embellishment. Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was effusive in his praise after PSG's semi-final victory over Bayern Munich, declaring the winger "the best in the world right now" on TNT Sports. Gerrard highlighted the 24-year-old's all-round game—his ability to create, score, work defensively, and compete for every ball—as what sets him apart from peers who merely want the ball at their feet to produce moments of magic.

There's a complication, however. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on any notion of Kvaratskhelia's imminent departure, insisting the player is content at PSG. Speaking on his YouTube channel in late April, Romano noted that Kvaratskhelia only arrived in Paris in January 2025, meaning he's spent roughly 15 months in France. The player's father recently announced his son's intention to remain in the French capital, with Kvaratskhelia himself taking an official stance that he wishes to stay put.

Whether Arsenal can tempt him away remains to be seen—particularly given they could be facing him in the Champions League final within weeks.
