Bayern Munich are preparing for a summer of squad reinforcement with their star striker firmly off the market. The Bavarian giants have made clear they have no intention of parting with Harry Kane, despite Barcelona's reported interest, with contract negotiations already underway at the Allianz Arena.

Kane's extraordinary season—61 goals across 51 appearances in all competitions—has left Bayern in no doubt about his value. Under Vincent Kompany's stewardship, the club secured the Bundesliga title, claimed the DFB-Pokal with victory over Stuttgart, and pushed eventual Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain to the brink before bowing out 6-5 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

According to Bayern insider Christian Falk, the only sticking point in Kane's new deal concerns its length. The question isn't whether the England captain stays put, but rather whether he signs for one year, one year with an option, or pushes for a longer commitment. 'This could be a little problem,' Falk noted, 'but in the end, they really want to keep the striker.'

The winger search

Bayern's attentions have shifted to the flanks, with a new winger firmly on the agenda. After missing out on Anthony Gordon—who completed a £70m switch to Barcelona before the World Cup—the hunt for reinforcements has intensified.

Marcus Rashford has emerged as a potential target, particularly now that Barcelona have declined to trigger their £26m buy option with Manchester United. Falk previously dismissed Rashford as an option, but circumstances have shifted with Gordon's departure. Bayern could comfortably meet the reported €40m (£34.5m) asking price, a fee the Catalans cannot apparently finance in one go.

The stumbling block, however, is wages. Bayern's reluctance to commit substantial salary to a backup signing makes Rashford a tough fit, despite the intrigue surrounding his name. 'I personally don't think he's an option for Bayern right now,' Falk explained, 'but it's worth remembering that Luis Diaz wasn't the first-choice signing last summer.'

Gabriel Martinelli represents another avenue of exploration. Arsenal have indicated a willingness to listen to offers for the Brazilian winger, and Bayern have registered their interest. Yet the German club appear inclined towards younger, less established talents they can develop in the position rather than established names commanding premium wages.

The summer window promises to be a fascinating one for Bayern as they balance Kane's future with their wider recruitment ambitions.
