Bayern Shut Door on Olise: Liverpool's Salah Successor Search Hits Wall

With Mohamed Salah heading for the exit at Liverpool—the Reds confirmed on Tuesday the Egyptian will depart on a free transfer at season's end—the hunt for his replacement has intensified at Anfield. Enter Michael Olise, the obvious candidate to fill that void on the left wing.

Problem is, Bayern Munich aren't having any of it.

German journalist Christian Falk has been given the inside track from Bayern's brass, and the message is unambiguous: Olise stays put. Speaking to CFBayern, Falk revealed that Bayern's Head of Sport Max Eberl made the club's position abundantly clear in private discussions. There's simply no scenario in which Bayern entertain offers for the 24-year-old Frenchman, regardless of who comes calling—whether that's Real Madrid, Fiorentino Perez, or Liverpool's ambitious ownership at Fenway Sports Group.

"He's a Bayern Munich player and has all the opportunities here that top players could wish for," Falk relayed. "Bayern wants to shape the future with him."

Eberl also confirmed to the journalist that Olise's contract contains no release clause whatsoever, effectively removing any legal loophole Liverpool might have hoped to exploit.

Graeme Bailey has corroborated Bayern's stance, emphasising that the club remain resolute and that Olise himself shows no desire to leave. The winger is content with his current situation and, crucially, hasn't been agitating for a move. Should he eventually depart Bavaria, Bailey notes Spain represents the more likely destination—Real Madrid or Barcelona—but that departure remains distant.

Since arriving from Crystal Palace in summer 2024, Olise has been a genuine revelation in Bavaria, amassing 36 goals and 50 assists across 94 appearances. His availability has been remarkable, too. Bayern boss Vincent Kompany highlighted this durability recently, noting that Olise's dedication to his fitness regime off the pitch—particularly impressive given his injury struggles at Palace—means he's likely to remain a fixture for years to come.

"You can never replace a player of his quality like-for-line," Kompany observed. "What he's achieved recently has been fantastic."

Liverpool's search for a Salah successor will need to look elsewhere.
