Bayern Munich Table Concrete Offer for Anthony Gordon as Newcastle Face Transfer Battle

The Bavarian outfit have escalated their pursuit of Newcastle's Anthony Gordon by laying concrete figures on the table, according to reports from Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg. The 25-year-old winger, who has caught the attention of Liverpool and Arsenal among others, could sign a five-year deal with Bayern.

However, the real battleground isn't with the player himself – it's with his current employers on Tyneside. Bayern have made their limits clear and are simultaneously exploring alternative targets as they search for a long-term deputy and competitor to Luis Díaz on the left flank.

Gordon has been a productive force for Newcastle this campaign, notching 17 goals and four assists. His performances have understandably attracted interest from across Europe's elite, with the England international reportedly open to exploring fresh pastures this summer.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has previously addressed the speculation swirling around his squad, emphasising that commitment remains non-negotiable regardless of external noise. "I won't play a player if I don't think they are 100% committed to the club and its future," Howe stated last month. "Players who are high-profile like they are here, they're in the news all the time for loads of different reasons. You have to adapt to it and try to play to your best level with the noise around you."

The interest isn't confined to Munich. Barcelona's sporting director Deco recently held talks with Gordon's representatives, though any move to the Camp Nou appears complicated at present. The winger remains highly regarded by the Catalan club despite the logistical challenges.

According to Mick Brown, a former Manchester United chief scout with strong Premier League connections, Gordon views Bayern as his preferred destination ahead of domestic alternatives. "Out of all of the clubs interested, like Liverpool and Chelsea, his preferred destination would be Bayern Munich," Brown told Football Insider. "He would do well in German football, and it would allow him to take that step away from the pressure and focus on him in the Premier League."

Brown suggests the slower pace of the Bundesliga could suit Gordon's development, potentially offering him the consistency that has occasionally eluded him at both club and international level. The fact that he already knows Bayern squad members through the England setup – Harry Kane among them – should ease any settling-in period were a move to materialise.
