Bayern Shut Door on Olise to Liverpool: Hoeness Takes Swipe at Reds' Troubled Campaign

Bayern Munich have slammed the door firmly on any prospect of Michael Olise joining Liverpool, with the Bavarian outfit making crystal clear the winger is not for sale.

The move comes hot on the heels of Mohamed Salah's announcement that he will depart Anfield come summer, leaving the Reds searching for a successor. Olise has naturally been touted as the ideal candidate – and who could blame them? The Frenchman has been nothing short of sensational in Bavaria since his £50m switch from Crystal Palace in summer 2024, racking up an impressive 36 goals and 50 assists across just 94 appearances.

But Bayern's hierarchy are having none of it. Honorary president Uli Hoeness was particularly cutting in his dismissal, taking a thinly veiled swipe at Liverpool's disappointing campaign. "If that's true… I don't believe it is, but Liverpool spent 500 million this year and are having a very bad season. So we won't be contributing to them playing better next year," he declared at an AI festival on Thursday.

Hoeness went on to emphasise Bayern's philosophy, stating: "We play this game for our fans. We have 430,000 members, we have many millions of fans around the world, and it does them little good if we have 200 million in the bank and play worse football every Saturday because of it."

The message from Munich is unambiguous. Sporting director Max Eberl left no room for interpretation, telling Sport Bild: "Michael has a contract with us until 2029, without a release clause – we're relaxed." He's already spoken with journalists to confirm Bayern won't even entertain discussions, regardless of any offer that might materialise.

Olise himself shows no inclination to leave either. The winger is content with his current situation at the Allianz Arena and hasn't been pushing for an exit. Should he eventually depart Bavaria, Spain appears the more likely destination, with Real Madrid or Barcelona potentially in the frame – though that scenario remains some way off.

It's a stark contrast to last summer's transfer window, when Liverpool successfully lured Florian Wirtz away from Bayern – a move that clearly still rankles with Hoeness. This time around, the Germans are determined to keep hold of their prized asset and build their future around him.
