Barcelona's Summer Spree Continues: Hincapié in Sights After Gordon, Silva Deal Nearly Done

Barcelona are on a spending rampage this summer, and they're far from finished. Having already wrapped up Newcastle United's Anthony Gordon—a deal worth approximately £69m that Gordon has travelled to Spain to finalise—the Catalan giants are casting their net even wider.

Hansi Flick's outfit have seized the initiative in the race for Gordon, moving clear of Bayern Munich and others in the process. Yet with fresh financial freedom after years of transfer restrictions, they're plotting further raids on Europe's biggest clubs.

Arsenal's Piero Hincapié is now on Barcelona's radar. The Colombian defender has impressed during his 2025/26 loan spell at the Emirates, and the Gunners hold an option to sign him permanently from Bayer Leverkusen for around £45m. Reports suggest Arsenal will activate that clause—but Barcelona are weighing up whether to test the water themselves.

According to The Daily Mail, Barcelona's sporting director Deco recognises that prising Hincapié away from north London will be no straightforward task. The defender is settled at Arsenal, and the club's response to any approach will speak volumes about how highly they rate him going forward. Still, Barcelona reckon it's worth an attempt as they hunt for a left-sided centre-back.

That's not all. Barcelona are also eyeing a permanent move for Marcus Rashford following his loan success, whilst Atlético Madrid's Julian Álvarez has caught their attention too.

The most imminent arrival, however, could be Manchester City's Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese midfielder is set to become a free agent next month, and journalist Gianluigi Longari reports Barcelona are on the verge of sealing his signature. According to Longari, the deal is "one step away" from completion, with Barcelona having fended off competition from other interested parties for the former City star.
