Villa's Transfer Lifeline Arrives as Kamara Ruled Out for Season

It's been a miserable week at Villa Park. First came that rare home defeat to Everton, then Unai Emery's post-match theatrics raised eyebrows, and now comes the hammer blow that midfielder Boubakar Kamara faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

The France international will not feature again this season after sustaining a knee injury. When Kamara failed to make the squad for the Everton clash, Emery hinted trouble was brewing: "Kamara is out, his knee. We are checking him and he's visiting some doctors. We are going to know about him in a few days but of course not available and maybe for a long time. Hopefully not so so long time but we are checking him."

Initial suggestions that the midfielder might return within two or three weeks have now evaporated. Multiple sources speaking anonymously have indicated the injury is considerably more serious than first feared, with the expectation he will be absent for the remainder of the campaign.

This latest setback compounds Villa's recent transfer frustrations. They've already watched Conor Gallagher slip away to Tottenham this month, and with Kamara now unavailable, Emery's recruitment team will be frantically working the phones to secure midfield reinforcements before the window closes.

The club's shopping list extends beyond the engine room, however. Donyell Malen's departure to AS Roma has left a gap in attack, and Villa are actively hunting for a new striker to provide genuine competition for Ollie Watkins. Financial regulations remain a constant headache, limiting the scope of what the Birmingham outfit can realistically spend.

Enter Tammy Abraham. The former Chelsea man, currently on loan at Besiktas, has emerged as Villa's primary target up front. Nottingham Forest attempted to muscle in with a hijack bid, whilst Everton have also circled, but Abraham appears set on a move to the Midlands.

Reports have identified Villa as the overwhelming favourites to land the 26-year-old, with journalist Ben Jacobs confirming the deal is all but done. Abraham has agreed personal terms with Villa, and Roma are prepared to greenlight his exit. The only remaining complication involves untangling his loan arrangement at Besiktas, though optimism surrounds a swift resolution. If negotiations proceed as expected, the deal could be wrapped up this month.
