Arsenal's Summer Shopping Spree: Three Bundesliga Talents on Berta's Radar

With nine points separating them from the chasing pack and European campaigns still alive in both continental and domestic cup competitions, Arsenal are in the mood to invest heavily when the transfer window opens. Having already committed over £250m to their cause last summer, Mikel Arteta's side look set to splash out again, particularly given their league position and the financial boost success brings.

Recent setbacks—notably last season's Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City—haven't dampened the Gunners' ambitions. Quarter-final places in the FA Cup and Champions League suggest there remains work to do, and Berta appears keen to future-proof the squad with young talent rather than ageing stars.

Three Bundesliga prospects have emerged as targets. Frankfurt's 22-year-old left-back Nathaniel Brown tops the wishlist, with the German club demanding at least €65m (£57m) for their highly-rated defender. Unsurprisingly, he's attracted plenty of admirers—Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Liverpool are all circling—but Brown is widely tipped to depart the Main side come summer.

Hertha Berlin's 16-year-old defensive midfielder Kennet Eichhorn represents another option. Valued around £17m, the teenage prospect has already drawn competition from across Europe, with Manchester United also reported to be in the conversation. Frankfurt are bracing themselves for what they describe as "mega competition" for his signature.

Completing the trio is Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya. The 20-year-old has impressed this season with three goals and four assists in the Bundesliga, and would likely cost Arsenal around €40m (£35m). The club appear to be weighing up their options here rather than rushing into anything.

The potential departures of Gabriel Martinelli, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Gabriel Jesus could help fund these moves, though their sales remain far from certain.

One name unlikely to arrive at the Emirates is Paris Saint-Germain's Kvaratskhelia. Despite Arsenal's reported interest, PSG have made their position abundantly clear: the Georgian winger isn't going anywhere. Having only joined from Napoli 14 months ago in January 2025, the French club are determined to hold onto him. His captaincy of Georgia, combined with his consistency and professionalism at club level, means PSG view him as a long-term asset rather than a potential sale. Arsenal may still hunt for attacking reinforcements—a striker or winger—but Kvaratskhelia won't be the answer.
