Arsenal Could Be Mbappe's Perfect Premier League Home, Says Sagna

Arsenal have been tipped as the ideal landing spot for Kylian Mbappe should the Real Madrid star ever depart the Bernabéu, with Bacary Sagna backing the North London outfit on two counts.

The Gunners have hit a rough patch recently, including a loss to Manchester United over the weekend and some unconvincing displays, yet they remain Premier League title favourites and hold strong positions in the Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup competitions.

With Mikel Arteta already commanding arguably the finest squad in English football and arguably Europe, strengthening the ranks would present a significant challenge for the Arsenal hierarchy.

Sagna, the former Gunners defender, reckons Mbappe would slot in seamlessly at the Emirates, pointing to the club's youthful, energetic approach and abundance of pace throughout the side.

"If he joined the Premier League, I think Arsenal would suit him," Sagna told GOAL. "All of the players are kind of the same age, dynamic, young. Arsenal players are fast. If you look at the front line you have Bukayo Saka, who is very fast, you have Eberechi Eze, who is powerful and fast. You have speed and enjoyment. Arsenal suits him the most in England."

The 45-year-old acknowledged the scenario remains unlikely, suggesting Mbappe may well see out his career at Real Madrid. However, he drew a comparison to Thierry Henry's devastating impact in the Premier League, highlighting how Mbappe's electric pace could prove similarly devastating in England's top flight.

"I'm not sure it's going to happen. I don't think it is ever going to happen because he might retire in Europe with Real Madrid," Sagna added. "He has the same kind of speed as Thierry Henry and we know how impactful Thierry was in the Premier League with his speed and ability. I think he would do well in England."

On the transfer front, Arsenal have primarily been conducting business in the outgoing department this window. Ethan Nwaneri's loan move to Marseille stands out as their most significant departure, prompting Jeremie Aliadiere to question the decision.

The former Arsenal striker believes losing Nwaneri represents a mistake, given the qualities the young talent possesses—particularly his directness and willingness to take on defenders.

"From an Arsenal point of view, I'm disappointed to see him go because I really believe that what he's got is something that we haven't got," Aliadiere told The Sun. "Somebody that quickly wants to go forward, take on two, three players, go and shoot, which I think we are lacking at the moment. His game, the pace, the power, and like I said, he takes players on."

Aliadiere did, however, endorse Nwaneri's choice to join Marseille on loan, viewing it as a shrewd career move for the youngster. He believes Ligue 1's style will suit the talent better and expects him to flourish in France.

"I think for Marseille, which is a top club in France, he is going to be a success," Aliadiere continued. "If I could have given him any advice before, I would have told him exactly what he has done, which is to go on loan for six months, but go on loan to a top club in a top division and abroad in particular. I do feel that Ligue 1 will probably suit him better and it will be a massive success there. I have got no doubt about it."
