Arsenal Can Dominate for Years Says Terry, But They Need Kane Up Front

Arsenal have positioned themselves to potentially rule the roost for the next couple of years, according to John Terry, though the legendary defender reckons one glaring weakness could prove costly if left unaddressed.

With the Premier League trophy secured last month—despite that painful Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties—the Gunners have the financial muscle and momentum to make serious moves in the transfer market. But Terry believes they're missing the killer instinct in the box.

Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Terry identified Viktor Gyokeres as insufficient for Arsenal's ambitions. "I actually feel you guys are missing out on a top striker that's going to get you 25, possibly 30 goals a season," he said. "You look at all the best sides over the past 20 years, Henry done it, Rooney done it, Drogba, every team had that one player up front who produced those goals."

When pressed on who Arsenal should pursue, Terry's answer was straightforward: Harry Kane. However, he acknowledged a potential stumbling block. "I'm actually not sure who would want to go to Arsenal, that's the issue," he noted, before adding his assessment of their broader position: "Worryingly, I think you guys for the next two or three years have got the opportunity to dominate."

Chelsea's Misery

The contrast with Chelsea couldn't be starker. Terry's former club endured what he describes as the worst campaign since his retirement, finishing tenth in the Premier League and missing out on European football entirely.

"It's probably been the worst season I've seen since I retired, to be honest," Terry reflected on Chelsea's struggles. He believes the club's strategy of prioritising youth over experience has backfired, though he sees hope in incoming manager Enzo Alonso.

"I'm hoping with Alonso coming in, after the disastrous season we've had, I think he's a really good signing and actually I don't think we could've got any better in the position we're in," Terry said. "He's got a great football brain, I've come across him, played against him for many years, I think he's going to sign some experienced players."

Terry stopped short of predicting an immediate turnaround at Stamford Bridge. "Do I think we're competing for the Premier League? No, I don't. I think we're a couple of years away from that," he stated. Still, he believes Alonso's appointment, combined with some shrewd recruitment, could steer Chelsea back in the right direction.
