Shearer Backs PSG to Derail Arsenal's Champions League Dream

Alan Shearer has tipped Paris Saint-Germain to be Arsenal's kryptonite in the Champions League, even as the Gunners continue their imperious run through Europe.

Arsenal dispatched Inter Milan 3-1 in their latest continental outing, with Petar Sucic briefly levelling after Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring. Jesus struck again, and Viktor Gyokeres added a third—his seventh of the campaign—to secure the victory. The result extends Arsenal's perfect record to seven wins from seven in the competition, cementing their position at the summit of the table.

Yet Shearer, speaking ahead of the Inter clash on Amazon Prime, refused to be swept up in the mood of invincibility. "I just think because of what PSG did last year, the players that they have, I'm just going to edge it with PSG," he said. "But Arsenal won't be far away."

When pressed on a potential final between the two sides, the Newcastle legend stuck to his guns. "Probably Arsenal," he replied when asked who PSG would face in a decider, before tempering expectations of a repeat of any heavy scoreline. He acknowledged Arsenal's formidable squad depth, their ability to rotate without losing potency, and the imminent returns of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as factors that could alter the trajectory of their campaign.

Back in the Premier League, Shearer is convinced Arsenal will claim the title. Their seven-point cushion over Manchester City, combined with their defensive solidity, makes them overwhelming favourites in his estimation. "I think they'll win the Premier League," he declared, praising their capacity to absorb injuries and maintain standards. City's recent acquisitions—Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi—represent shrewd defensive reinforcements, but Shearer reckons experience alone won't be enough to bridge the gap. "They will push them, but I'm not sure they'll have enough and Arsenal will take it."
