Arsenal Eye Summer Overhaul as Romano Identifies Three Key Targets

Despite sitting atop the Premier League table with silverware on multiple fronts, Arsenal are already plotting their next moves in the transfer market as they prepare for a busy summer window.

Mikel Arteta's side remain in the hunt for the title, though recent form has given Manchester City hope. Having won just three of their last eight league matches, the Gunners now hold just a five-point advantage over City, who possess a game in hand and face Arsenal at the Etihad in April. For a club that has finished runners-up in three consecutive seasons, squandering this opportunity would represent a significant setback.

Yet even as the title race intensifies, the Arsenal hierarchy are already casting their nets wide. Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano has lifted the lid on the club's summer priorities, revealing three distinct areas where reinforcements are needed following last summer's £250m spending spree.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that midfield recruitment remains paramount. "Arsenal will work on midfielders in the summer," he stated. "We know some of the names, some of the options they already considered in January after the injury of Mikel Merino."

However, one signing category has flown somewhat under the radar. "One of the priorities in the summer transfer window for Arsenal – maybe a bit underrated in this moment in terms of media – could be to add a younger right-back to the squad," Romano explained.

A third avenue of attack may also materialise. "Arsenal are going to be active in the summer transfer window," he continued. "The work behind the scenes has started to prepare the summer window – right-back, midfielder and eventually something up front."

The Gunners' recruitment team is already circling some of Europe's most sought-after talent. Spanish reports suggest Arsenal have now entered the race to secure Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson ahead of the summer window.

Competition, however, will be fierce. Manchester City are reportedly preparing a mammoth offer in the region of €115m (£100m) for the midfielder, whilst Forest's board remain resolute in their valuation. The club will not entertain bids below £100m, with Anderson's contract running until June 2029 providing the East Midlands outfit with considerable negotiating leverage.

"Forest's stance is absolutely firm, knowing they possess one of the most coveted assets in European football today," the report notes. "Arsenal understands that the midfielder's contract gives them an enviable position of strength in any upcoming negotiations."
