Eze Set to Play Crucial Role in Arsenal's Title Push, Says Rice

Declan Rice has declared Eberechi Eze will prove pivotal to Arsenal's ambitions of landing the Premier League title during the crucial closing weeks of the campaign.

The Gunners claimed a slender 1-0 victory at Newcastle on Sunday, courtesy of a thunderous effort from Eze just nine minutes into the contest. The move restored Arsenal to the summit of the table with Manchester City occupied by FA Cup commitments.

Eze, who has endured a patient wait for regular football under Mikel Arteta's stewardship this season, has now accumulated ten goals and three assists across all competitions. Rice, speaking after the match, was effusive in his praise of the former Crystal Palace star.

"That's what he's been brought here to do," the England midfielder explained. "I mentioned a few weeks back how exceptional his striking technique is. He's a tremendous player, a tremendous person, and he's going to be massive for us in the weeks ahead. We're going to need him."

Rice acknowledged the significance of the three points, particularly given the tightness of the title race and the fixture list ahead. "The three points were enormous," he reflected. "After what happened against Manchester City, with five games remaining, we knew we had to win all five. Getting this one over the line was a real lift, so we're delighted."

The midfielder stressed the collective mood within the camp remained buoyant despite the intensity of the run-in. "That's been the mentality throughout the season and it's what we're determined to maintain as we head into the final stretch – sitting top, keeping spirits high," Rice said.

"There are four games left and that's exactly what we intend to do – keep collecting wins and we'll be prepared for what's coming."

Arteta echoed similar sentiments regarding Eze's impact, hailing the winger as a key asset during this pivotal period. "Eze is an important player for us and he's in excellent form," the Arsenal boss confirmed post-match. "He delivered an exceptional moment to score. Hopefully he'll be fit and available for Wednesday."

The manager did, however, flag minor fitness concerns following the Newcastle encounter. "I'm pleased with the result," Arteta continued. "We discussed beforehand how vital this fixture was. In truth, we should have wrapped things up by a more comfortable scoreline given certain opportunities we created. But with the score at 1-0, Newcastle always poses a threat – they've got quality and brought on some excellent replacements."

Regarding potential squad availability for the midweek Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, Arteta outlined a cautious approach. "Both Havertz and Eze have picked up minor muscle tightness. We don't believe it's serious at this stage, but we'll need to assess them before Wednesday to determine their availability."

Arsenal face Atletico Madrid in Europe on Wednesday before hosting Fulham at the Emirates the following Saturday as the title battle intensifies.
