Arsenal Given 'Green Light' on Alvarez as Simeone Signals Striker's Mind Already Made Up

Arsenal's summer transfer ambitions could soon include one of Europe's most coveted strikers, with fresh reports suggesting the Gunners have been given a positive signal regarding Julian Alvarez's availability.

Fresh off ending their 22-year Premier League drought and eyeing Champions League glory, Mikel Arteta's side are already plotting their next moves. Alvarez sits high on their shopping list as a potential upgrade on current attacking options, and the signals coming out of the Wanda Metropolitano are increasingly encouraging.

The 26-year-old Atletico Madrid forward has been a prolific force in the Spanish capital, notching 49 goals and 17 assists across 106 appearances. His performances have naturally attracted suitors across Europe, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain also circling.

Yet the most telling indication of an impending departure may come from Atletico boss Diego Simeone himself. When asked about Alvarez's future over the weekend, the Argentine manager appeared to suggest the matter has already been decided elsewhere.

"It's not a question for me, it's a question for Julian," Simeone told Movistar. "He's old enough to know what he's going to do, and I imagine he's already made his decision."

Spanish journalist Pedro Fullana has now reported that both Arsenal and Champions League finalists PSG have been handed what amounts to a green light by Alvarez's representatives. The intermediaries involved, Fullana explained, wouldn't be conducting such exploratory talks unless the player himself had signalled his willingness to consider moves away from Madrid.

"There have been intermediaries with connections to PSG and Arsenal who have also inquired with Atlético," Fullana stated. "It's obvious that the club knows that when all this is happening, it's because Julián's agents, and therefore Julián himself, have given the green light for discussions about his future away from Atlético Madrid."

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has reinforced the likelihood of Alvarez's departure, describing a fresh contract at Atletico as "very, very unlikely" despite the club's new ownership and stated ambitions. Romano noted that Barcelona remain keen admirers, but Premier League clubs—Arsenal among them—are expected to mount aggressive summer campaigns for the striker's signature.

"All doors means Barcelona because they love the player, for sure. But also Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League clubs are very interested in Julian Alvarez," Romano explained on his YouTube channel. "So they're going to be very aggressive this summer. And I think it's not going to be easy, obviously, for Atletico Madrid to keep the player."
