Real Madrid Set Sights on Arsenal's Gabriel, But Gunners Demand €110m Price Tag

Real Madrid's search for reinforcements at the back has them circling Arsenal's Gabriel Magalhaes, though the Spanish giants will face a steep financial hurdle if they wish to prise the Brazilian away from the Premier League club.

The Bernabéu outfit find themselves in need of defensive depth heading into the summer window. With David Alaba departing as a free agent and Antonio Rudiger expected to receive a 12-month extension, Carlo Ancelotti's side still require another commanding presence in central defence. Eder Militao's ongoing injury troubles and inconsistency from Raul Asensio have underlined the need for fresh options, whilst Dean Huijsen—signed from Bournemouth last summer—is viewed as a prospect for the future rather than an immediate solution.

That search has led them to Gabriel, who has established himself as a cornerstone of Arsenal's backline. Madrid are understood to have made preliminary enquiries during the winter transfer window, only to be rebuffed by the Gunners. Undeterred, the club remain keen and are expected to make a formal approach when the market reopens.

Arsenal, however, have drawn a line in the sand. The club have no intention of selling their 28-year-old left-sided centre-back, and should Madrid persist, they will demand between €100m and €110m—equivalent to roughly £95.3m—to even consider negotiations. Gabriel signed fresh terms with Arsenal just last June, committing his future to the club until summer 2029.

Speaking after putting pen to paper on that extension, Gabriel reflected on his journey since arriving in 2020: "I arrived here as a young player and after almost five years I'm so happy and I've learned a lot. I'm so proud of myself, it's an amazing journey, and I'm so happy to continue it. I hope I win some trophies with this club, because I love this club and my family loves the club, too. With Gabriel firmly entrenched at the Emirates and Madrid sitting nine points adrift of Barcelona in LaLiga, any summer move appears a distant prospect—unless the Spanish outfit are willing to break the bank.
