Arsenal Ready to Splash Out on Alvarez as Atletico Circle Jesus

Arsenal's title credentials look increasingly genuine this season. Yet despite investing over £250m in the summer market, the Gunners are already plotting their next spending spree. Striking reinforcements have become a priority heading into the window.

Viktor Gyokeres arrived from Sporting CP for around £64m in the summer and cut an impressive figure in Portugal, rattling in 97 goals across 102 appearances. Spanish sources report that the north London club are willing to spend big for Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, the former Manchester City forward. Word from the continent suggests Arsenal are "pushing hard" on the deal, with Alvarez's representative recently in London conducting talks with both the Gunners and Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid harbour designs of their own. The La Liga side are keen on Gabriel Jesus, viewing the Arsenal forward as a perfect fit for their attacking requirements. Diego Simeone's coaching staff particularly admire Jesus's movement off the ball, his ability to manufacture space, and his pressing intensity—qualities that would slot neatly into their system. Beyond pure goalscoring, they see a versatile operator capable of linking play and drifting into wider areas, something the Spanish club have needed at various points this campaign.

Jesus remains under contract until summer 2027, but Arsenal face a decision point. The coming window will prove crucial in determining whether the club opts to extend his terms and reinforce his standing, or opens the door to a potential exit.
