Nwaneri to Leave Arsenal on Loan; Arteta Eyes £43m Inter Star

Arsenal have sanctioned the departure of teenage midfielder Ethan Nwaneri on a temporary basis, with the club and player both agreeing that a loan spell represents the ideal solution for his continued progression.

The 18-year-old has been starved of minutes at the Emirates this season despite bursting onto the scene last campaign as one of Europe's most exciting young talents. Limited to just 12 appearances across all competitions and without a single Premier League start to his name, Nwaneri's path to regular football has been blocked by Arsenal's summer recruitment drive, which saw the Gunners invest heavily in attacking reinforcements.

Marseille have emerged as the destination for the midfielder's temporary switch, with the arrangement now at an advanced stage. Roberto De Zerbi, the Ligue 1 club's manager, has held productive discussions with both Arteta and Nwaneri himself, with the Italian tactician's approach to the game playing a significant role in making the French outfit the preferred choice.

The deal takes shape as a straightforward loan without a purchase option attached. Financial terms will include a fee structured around appearances, allowing Arsenal to protect their investment while ensuring Nwaneri gains valuable experience at the highest level. Other clubs from the Premier League and across Europe had registered interest, but several had sought permanent mechanisms—a non-starter for the Gunners.

While Nwaneri heads for the exit, Arteta is simultaneously exploring fresh recruitment avenues. Reports from Spain suggest Arsenal are actively pursuing Inter Milan's Federico Dimarco, the left-sided operator valued at approximately €50 million (£43m). The club hierarchy is prepared to make a substantial financial commitment to land the Italian, with preliminary contact already established to establish both the player's interest and Inter's asking price.

Despite rival English clubs circling, Dimarco is said to view Arsenal's project under Arteta as the most attractive proposition should he depart Serie A. It represents another marker of the Gunners' ambition as they continue their assault on the Premier League title this season.
