Arsenal Pursuing Lille Sensation Bouaddi with £50m Bid as Liverpool Circle

Arsenal have begun preliminary negotiations with Lille to bring midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi to the Premier League, with the Gunners proposing a deal worth £50m plus performance-related bonuses.

The French club are holding firm on their valuation, demanding £60m for the 18-year-old Moroccan, though the player himself is understood to be enthusiastic about a move to England this summer.

Bouaddi's stock has risen considerably following his standout display in Morocco's 1-1 World Cup stalemate with Brazil last week, catching the attention of Europe's elite. Arsenal have been laying groundwork for months, maintaining consistent contact with the midfielder's representatives since January 2025, according to reports from Sky journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

"The Gunners have been actively working on this matter for several months and have maintained regular contact with the player's entourage since January 2025," Tavolieri noted. "Considered one of the brightest talents in the French league, Bouaddi is also attracting significant interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The player himself reportedly has a slight preference for the Parisian club. However, Arsenal are pursuing their offensive with determination and are using every argument they can to try and convince the young midfielder to join the Premier League."

The Gunners face stiff competition for Bouaddi's signature. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that both Arsenal and Liverpool have held direct meetings with the player's agents, with PSG also maintaining a long-standing interest in the prospect.

"Lille knows very well that top clubs will be coming for Bouaddi, because even before the World Cup, some of the biggest clubs in the world started some conversations with his agents," Romano explained. "I can tell you that between January and now, for sure, he's been approached by Paris Saint-Germain. Paris Saint-Germain love Bouaddi, and they've been tracking him for a long time."

Romano added: "Then we have to mention also that English clubs started having conversations for Bouaddi. For example, there were direct contacts with Arsenal and direct contacts also with Liverpool, so both clubs had meetings with the agents of the player, but now shining at the World Cup, one of the best talents around in midfield."

The midfield reinforcement forms part of Arsenal's summer strategy, with Mikel Arteta's squad expected to undergo changes. Christian Norgaard is likely to depart, prompting a fresh addition to bolster the engine room. Romano has previously indicated it is "almost guaranteed" the club will recruit another midfielder before the window closes.

Bouaddi would slot in as an elite fourth option alongside Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, and Myles Lewis-Skelly in Arteta's central midfield plans, offering both immediate impact and long-term potential for a title-chasing side.
