Having fallen short in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal know they must bolster their ranks this summer if they're to take the next step. The Gunners may have finally ended their 22-year Premier League drought this season, but there's plainly work to be done across the squad.

Mikel Arteta's men are expected to hunt for a new striker and possibly a left winger to sharpen their attacking edge, yet the club's long-term vision extends well beyond immediate first-team needs. With several key players tied down to fresh contracts, Arsenal are equally keen on securing emerging talent for the future.

Word emerged earlier this week that the north London outfit had settled personal terms with Leicester City prospect Jeremy Monga, the Championship's bright spark this campaign. Now, fresh reports suggest Arsenal are moving at pace on two fronts.

According to the latest information, youth recruitment has become a central pillar of Arsenal's strategy. The club are "accelerating" their efforts to land both Monga and PSG's Emmanuel Mbemba, with meaningful headway made on each deal. Arsenal are "advancing towards an agreement" with the Leicester youngster while simultaneously leading the charge for Mbemba's signature.

The race for Mbemba remains competitive, mind you. Chelsea's BlueCo ownership group and Manchester City's City Football Group have both registered their interest, while Stuttgart, PSV Eindhoven and Paris FC have sniffed around the prospect. Despite that crowded field, Arsenal have positioned themselves at the front of the queue.

Of course, any incoming business will need to be offset by outgoings. The Gunners face a balancing act to keep the finances in order, and some notable departures could be on the cards. Martin Odegaard has been mooted as a potential departure, though Paul Merson has urged caution on that front.

"It's madness for me to be saying this, but they probably will be thinking about that," Merson told The Sports Agents podcast when discussing a potential Odegaard exit. "But for me, I still think there'll be teams queuing round the block for him… When you play in the position that Odegaard plays in, you're screaming out for pace up front. You have to have pace."
