Arsenal Join the Leao Chase as Milan Winger Eyes Premier League Exit

Rafael Leao appears to be edging closer to a Premier League move, with Arsenal now firmly in the mix alongside Manchester United in the race to land AC Milan's Portuguese winger ahead of the summer window.

Both the Gunners and United have strengthened their financial positions through European success—Arsenal by reaching the Champions League final as defending champions, while United have benefited from securing Champions League qualification. Both are hunting for left-wing reinforcements after encouraging campaigns.

Speaking to Sport TV Portugal, Leao made his ambitions crystal clear. "I'm proud as I made history at AC Milan but I want new chapter," the 26-year-old declared. "I feel ready to play in another league. I did my best for Milan, but it's time to try another challenge."

Leao's comments come after he spent much of this season operating centrally as Milan's lead forward, though he initially built his reputation operating on the left flank. The winger has previously expressed admiration for both of the Premier League suitors circling him. "I like Manchester United because my idol is Cristiano Ronaldo, so back then I used to watch them," Leao said in earlier remarks. "I like Arsenal also."

United's interest has been boosted by these previous comments, though they're not alone in the hunt. According to reports from May, the player has been offered to multiple top-flight clubs, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all receiving approaches. United have conducted detailed background work on Leao and remain aware of his profile, though their interest hasn't progressed beyond preliminary evaluation thus far.

The latest development sees Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport revealing that Arsenal have been offered Leao in recent weeks. However, negotiations with the player's representatives have stalled for the moment.

Milan are prepared to let their winger depart for approximately €50m, though the situation remains far from straightforward. To date, the only concrete offer Leao has received comes from Turkish side Galatasaray—leaving the door wide open for Premier League clubs to make their move as the window approaches.
