Petit Makes Case for Arsenal Move as Endrick Stalls at Real Madrid

Real Madrid's Brazilian striker Endrick could be prised away from the Bernabéu this summer, with former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit suggesting the Gunners would be an ideal destination for the talented 19-year-old.

Endrick arrived at Real Madrid following a €60million transfer agreed in December 2022, officially joining the club in July 2024. His early career at Palmeiras marked him out as a special talent—16 goals in 82 appearances as a teenager drew inevitable comparisons to Ronaldo, the legendary Brazilian forward.

However, his spell in Madrid has failed to gain real traction. With Kylian Mbappé commanding the centre-forward role, Endrick has been starved of opportunities, leading to a loan move to Lyon this season where he has managed seven goals and seven assists across 18 appearances. When pressed on his future at the Spanish giants recently, the youngster offered a telling response: "I really don't know."

Petit, speaking in a recent interview, identified Arsenal as the perfect environment for Endrick to flourish. "He's only 19, very talented and very gifted, but he's like a crazy horse with lots of energy," the former Gunners midfielder explained. "Sometimes on the pitch he can be a bit too selfish, though he's aware of his enormous qualities. He needs the right setting to develop because this guy is a diamond. What kind of club would suit him? I'd genuinely love to see him at Arsenal."

The ex-midfielder also touched on Endrick's prospects for Brazil at the World Cup, suggesting the forward possesses the qualities to stake a claim in the starting eleven. "The Brazilian team has changed so much," Petit reflected. "I remember so many great names in that squad, but it's different now. Endrick has something special—there's a place for him in their XI."

Madrid's hierarchy appears open to a summer departure. President Florentino Perez is understood to be willing to let Endrick leave, though he's holding firm on an €80million asking price to sanction any exit.

Arsenal's search for attacking reinforcement has intensified following speculation around their current options. Gabriel Jesus could make way, whilst Viktor Gyokeres would face fresh competition. Kai Havertz has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich.

Though Endrick represents an intriguing prospect, Mikel Arteta's primary targets remain more established names. Julian Alvarez of Atlético Madrid tops the wishlist, though the Argentine would command a fee between £100-130million. Victor Osimhen represents another costly option on the Gunners' radar.
