Adebayor: Arsenal's Title to Lose, But City Will Find a Way

The stage is set for a thrilling finale to the Premier League season, with Arsenal firmly in the driving seat—but Emmanuel Adebayor reckons Manchester City will somehow find a way through.

Currently perched atop the table with 76 points from 35 matches, Arsenal hold a commanding five-point advantage over City, who have a game in hand with 34 played. The mathematics favour Mikel Arteta's men: three wins from their remaining fixtures against West Ham United, Burnley, and Crystal Palace would secure the club's first English top-flight crown since 2004.

Manchester City, meanwhile, face Brentford, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa in their final four outings. Pep Guardiola's outfit suffered a stumble against Everton but remain very much in the hunt.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Adebayor offered a perspective that will make Gunners supporters squirm. "If you ask me today, I think Man City will win it," the former striker said. "But I would like Arsenal to win it."

The sentiment is genuine enough—Adebayor played for both clubs and clearly harbours affection for the Gunners. Yet his prediction betrays a belief that City's experience, quality, and managerial nous will prove decisive when the pressure peaks. "They will manage with their manager, the excellent team they have, they will do everything possible to win the last three games and wait for Arsenal to drop points," he explained.

Still, Adebayor acknowledged the magnitude of what Arsenal are chasing. "For the first time, I wish Arsenal wins it because they have been working towards this for so long," he said. Arsenal's defensive solidity this season has been a particular strength, something Adebayor highlighted as crucial to their prospects.

The former striker also weighed in on Arsenal's summer acquisition Viktor Gyokeres, the Sporting CP signing who has netted 21 goals and provided three assists across 51 appearances in all competitions since arriving in 2025.

Gyokeres impressed Adebayor during the north London derby against Tottenham, particularly his physical presence and combative approach. "He's a good striker and a big lad who can control the ball quite well," Adebayor observed. "The first time I saw him play live was the north London derby and I kind of liked the way he played because he's strong and ready to fight."

However, there's room for development. "Playing as a striker for a club like Arsenal you have to add a little bit of technical ability to your game," Adebayor suggested. Improvements to Gyokeres' first touch and turning ability would elevate his contribution, the Togolese forward believes.

"Overall he's been good and he's scored goals," Adebayor concluded. "He's getting better and getting used to the Premier League, so he's doing well."
