Arsenal have opened discussions with Leicester City regarding the acquisition of Jeremy Monga, marking what could be their maiden summer transfer activity, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Gunners have enjoyed a stellar campaign under Mikel Arteta, culminating in their first Premier League crown in 22 years. However, their bid for an even more glittering season fell short on Saturday when they succumbed 4-3 to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in the Champions League final.

That combination of domestic dominance and a European final appearance has strengthened Arsenal's financial hand heading into the window. The club are anticipated to deploy more than £200m in their summer spending spree as they look to reinforce their title-winning squad.

A left-winger remains high on Arteta's shopping list, and the Leicester prospect has emerged as a prime target. Jacobs has revealed that negotiations are underway for the 16-year-old, though he cautions the move "could go to a tribunal to determine a fee."

Speaking on X, Jacobs outlined the situation: "Arsenal are in talks to sign Jeremy Monga. Several top clubs have made approaches for the 16-year-old Leicester City winger. Sources say Leicester have received as many as eight formal enquiries from top clubs in England and Europe. Monga could cost in excess of £10m. It is possible a transfer could go to a tribunal to determine a fee."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper David Raya has been reflecting on Arsenal's remarkable campaign during the club's trophy parade through north London on Sunday. The shot-stopper, who has now claimed three consecutive Golden Glove awards, paid tribute to his defensive unit and spoke movingly about his family's sacrifices.

"I trust every single player and they make my life much easier. Of course I try to be there for the team as always and this season, throughout the whole campaign, we have defended very well and that helped us to achieve what we have achieved," Raya said.

"Winning three Golden Gloves in a row never crossed my mind but as soon as you get the first one you think maybe it's a one-off. Then when you get the second and third one, it's not just me, it's the whole team. It's crazy to think that we won it three times in a row and hopefully we can go for a fourth one!"

He added: "My mum says I'm the brave one but I think her and my dad were the brave ones to let their son at 16 years old go to another country, to another culture, speaking no English, to pursue a dream. I have to thank them because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be where I am today."
