Arsenal Turn Up Heat in Bouaddi Chase as Two Key Advantages Edge Out PSG

Fresh from wrapping up the Premier League title, Arsenal are shifting their focus to the transfer market—and they've set their sights on Lille's highly-rated midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi.

The Gunners are now engaged in a battle with Paris Saint-Germain for the 18-year-old's signature, with the young midfielder having already amassed an impressive 96 senior appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit. During the 2025/26 season alone, Bouaddi featured 42 times for Lille, catching the attention of Europe's elite. The Morocco international is also expected to feature at the World Cup.

While Mikel Arteta's squad may have conquered England, there's clearly work to be done. A new striker and left winger remain priorities, though bolstering the midfield is equally high on the agenda—and Bouaddi fits the bill perfectly.

PSG have already made their interest known, with the Parisian giants believed to hold a slight edge in the player's thinking. But Arsenal aren't backing down. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the north London club have intensified their efforts to land the teenager, and crucially, their message about making him a key piece of next season's puzzle has resonated.

Two factors could prove decisive in Arsenal's favour. First, they've cultivated an excellent working relationship with Lille president Olivier Létang—a rapport that could smooth the path to negotiations. Secondly, and perhaps more significantly, Arsenal aren't a direct competitor to Lille in the French league. This distinction could prove pivotal if Létang decides to sanction a sale abroad, particularly if the financial package is attractive.

The deal would likely demand around €70 million (£60m) to get the job done.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that Arsenal's midfield recruitment plans are well underway. "There is a lot happening behind the scenes," Romano explained, suggesting the club's activity extends beyond just Bouaddi.

On the forward front, Arsenal continue to monitor multiple targets. Morgan Rogers remains among their top priorities for the summer window, though the Aston Villa star comes with both a hefty price tag and considerable difficulty in negotiations. Nevertheless, Arsenal's admiration for the player keeps him firmly in the conversation. Christos Tzolis is viewed as a more opportunistic signing should the circumstances align.

Meanwhile, Romano added that expectations remain crystal clear regarding Arteta's future: the Gunners fully expect their manager to sign a new contract and continue leading the club's title defence. "Things are moving in a very positive direction for the Premier League champions," he said.
