Arsenal Ready €40m Opening Offer for Porto's Polish Prospect Pietuszewski

The Gunners have identified FC Porto's teenage sensation Oskar Pietuszewski as a prime target for the summer window, with Andrea Berta prepared to sanction an opening gambit of €40 million (£34.6m) for the 17-year-old Polish winger.

Arsenal's current left-wing options face uncertain futures. Gabriel Martinelli could depart for £50 million, while Leandro Trossard has attracted Napoli's attention and is considering a move south. These potential departures have prompted the club to scout the market, and Pietuszewski has caught their eye.

The teenager has impressed since arriving at Porto from Jagiellonia Białystok in January 2026, contributing three goals and four assists across 15 appearances in all competitions. Arsenal view him as an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta's youthful, energetic blueprint, yet the path to signing him remains complicated.

Porto hold all the cards here. The Portuguese club will not entertain offers below the €60 million (£52m) release clause embedded in Pietuszewski's contract, which runs until summer 2029. More problematically for Arsenal, Porto intend to offer him fresh terms when he turns 18, pushing his release clause up to somewhere between €80 million and €100 million (£69m-£86.6m).

The race for Pietuszewski's signature extends well beyond North London. Chelsea and Manchester City are both monitoring his progress, with City reportedly considering acquiring him before sending him back on loan. Bayern Munich have registered their interest, while Borussia Dortmund remain particularly keen. The Bundesliga outfit have been effusive in their praise, describing his pace and transition-play suitability as "flawless."

Back at the Emirates, Arteta's focus remains on the here and now. Arsenal sit three points clear atop the Premier League, though Manchester City hold a game in hand and remain favourites for the title. The Champions League semi-final against Atlético Madrid looms large, with Wednesday's first leg in Spain up next. Summer business can wait—silverware cannot.
