The spending spree that's transformed Arsenal into genuine title contenders looks set to give way to a summer of departures. Midfield reinforcement remains on the agenda, with Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka emerging as an attractive proposition. The German international's contract at the Allianz Arena expires this summer, meaning he'll arrive for nothing—a rare bargain in today's market.

Yet Arsenal aren't alone in their pursuit. AC Milan have been making serious overtures, though reports suggest the North Londoners hold the advantage. The Italian club's pitch has merit for Goretzka, but there's a significant stumbling block: his financial demands. The 23-year-old is seeking a three-year deal worth €7 million annually, plus substantial bonuses and a €10 million signing-on fee—figures that reflect his Bayern wages and represent serious money even by Premier League standards.
