Kvaratskhelia's Father Shuts Down Arsenal Transfer Talk

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's dad has delivered a firm message to Arsenal: don't bother. The PSG winger's father, Badri, has flatly rejected suggestions his son could be tempted by a summer switch to the Emirates.

Arsenal have been scouting the left-wing market ahead of the transfer window, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Kvaratskhelia has been mooted as a possible target, but those hopes appear to have been extinguished before they could properly take flight.

Speaking to Georgian media outlet Kviris Palitra, Badri Kvaratskhelia made the club's position abundantly clear. His son, he explained, simply isn't interested in the noise surrounding a potential move to England.

"Yes, there are often reports about the interest of Arsenal or other English clubs, but my son does not pay attention to such reports," Badri said. "He is an outstanding player on one of the best teams in Europe. They appreciate him, love him, play for him, and why should he think about changing clubs?"

The timing of the comments came hot on the heels of Kvaratskhelia's impressive display in PSG's 5-4 Champions League semi-final first-leg demolition of Bayern Munich, where he netted twice. The winger, who arrived in Paris for around £59m, has clearly made an impression at the French capital since his arrival.

Badri doubled down on his son's contentment, pointing to the Georgian's status within Mauricio Pochettino's squad. "Khvicha plays for a very strong and successful club, where he is loved and trusted," he continued. "He is one of the leading players in the club, who are the holders of the Champions League and are semi-finalists in this year's tournament. Why should he think about leaving somewhere else?"

The 23-year-old's commitment appears genuine. Speaking to French newspaper Le Parisien last month, Kvaratskhelia himself gushed about his adopted home. "For me, Paris is truly extraordinary," he said. "You have everything here, and above all, this is the city of love."

He went on to recall his wife's reaction when PSG came calling. "When PSG contacted me, I thought my wife was the happiest person in the world," he explained. "Before PSG contacted me, she always said, 'Imagine if one day we play for PSG, it would be amazing to stay there.'"

Acknowledging the calibre of his teammates, Kvaratskhelia admitted harbouring doubts before his move. "In my mind, I think it's very difficult to go there when there are great players like Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe," he noted. "I love everything about Paris. The more I think about it, the more I appreciate how respectful the people are there."

Badri's final word on the matter suggests the door remains firmly shut unless PSG themselves decide otherwise. "If PSG no longer has the desire to continue the cooperation, we will also think about leaving," he said. "But at this stage, this topic is not even being discussed."

The Georgian international, he added, remains a cornerstone of PSG's plans despite competition from France's elite players. "Despite the fact that he has to compete with the leading players of the French national team, with rare exceptions, Khvicha is an unchanged member of the first-team squad and PSG's management also emphasise that he is an invaluable player for the team."

So there you have it, Gunners fans. Arsenal's hopes of recruiting Kvaratskhelia appear to have been snuffed out before the window even opens.
