Bayern Munich Step Away From Kofane Race, Clearing Path for Arsenal Swoop

Arsenal's pursuit of a new striker has just become considerably less complicated, with Bayern Munich confirming they will not be entering the market for Christian Kofane this summer.

The Bayer Leverkusen forward has emerged as a prime target for the Gunners, who are actively searching for attacking reinforcements. Current No. 9 Viktor Gyokeres has managed 16 goals in 42 appearances this season, a return that hardly screams long-term solution despite not being entirely disastrous.

Kofane, just 19 years old, has announced himself as one of European football's most sought-after young talents. The Cameroon international is valued between €60m and €70m by Leverkusen, with a move at the upper end of that bracket making him the Premier League's priciest teenager ever, eclipsing Leny Yoro's Manchester United transfer.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the prospect, and agent Eric Depolo has indicated the north London club are firmly in the mix. However, Bayern's involvement in the equation had presented a potential complication – the Bavarians have a well-documented habit of intercepting top Bundesliga talent before it moves elsewhere. The likes of Joshua Kimmich, Dayot Upamecano, and Jonathan Tah have all made the journey from German rivals to the Allianz Arena in recent seasons.

That threat has now evaporated. According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Bayern have explicitly ruled out a move for Kofane, with their focus instead trained on extending Harry Kane's contract beyond 2027.

Plettenberg stated that the Premier League represents the most viable market for the teenager's next destination, with Arsenal closely observing developments.

The numbers surrounding Kofane merit closer inspection. Seven goals and eight assists across 39 appearances might appear modest on first glance, but context matters considerably. The teenager has accumulated just 1,745 minutes, meaning he's recording a goal contribution every 116 minutes – a respectable return for someone of his age and experience.

Arsenal's path to landing their record teenage signing now looks considerably smoother, with the Bavarian roadblock firmly removed from the equation.
