Arsenal Ready to Cash In on Academy Prospects Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri This Summer

Arsenal are prepared to listen to offers for academy prospects Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri ahead of the summer transfer window, with the north London club placing a combined asking price of at least £100m on the pair.

The Gunners find themselves in a commanding position domestically, nine points clear at the Premier League summit and well-positioned in the Champions League after their 1-0 victory over Sporting in Portugal on Tuesday. With their first top-flight crown since 2003 firmly in their sights, the club is nevertheless planning for potential departures to balance the books.

Arsenal's hierarchy, including co-chair Josh Kroenke who was briefed on transfer strategy during a London visit at the end of February, must navigate the Premier League's fresh squad cost ratio regulations. Having splashed £250m on seven permanent additions last summer, moving on homegrown talent represents a neat way to comply with financial rules whilst generating funds for further recruitment.

Both Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri qualify as "pure profit" on the club's books, making them particularly attractive sale candidates from an accounting perspective.

Left-back conundrum for Arteta

Lewis-Skelly's breakthrough campaign last season promised much, but the left-back has since slipped down Mikel Arteta's pecking order behind Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie. His involvement has dried up considerably, with just a single Premier League start this term and no appearance in the last ten matches.

Manchester United have taken a keen interest in the young defender, with reports suggesting he harbours ambitions of moving to Old Trafford. United's recruitment team are actively monitoring Lewis-Skelly as part of a wider left-back review, alongside established Premier League operators Tyrick Mitchell at Crystal Palace and Antonee Robinson of Fulham. The Red Devils' scouting network has also been keeping close tabs on RB Leipzig's David Raum as they cast their net further afield.

Nwaneri's Ligue 1 spell

Nwaneri, meanwhile, departed on a January loan to Marseille, where he has recorded one goal and two assists across ten Ligue 1 appearances. German outfit Borussia Dortmund are understood to be tracking the midfielder's situation with a view to a permanent deal.

Beyond the pair, Arsenal have indicated they would entertain offers for Gabriel Jesus, Ben White and Gabriel Martinelli, suggesting a significant summer overhaul could be on the cards despite their domestic dominance.
