Fresh from winning their first Premier League title in 22 years—albeit following a Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain—Arsenal are plotting an ambitious summer rebuild that could see them raid Newcastle for one of the division's standout midfielders.

The Gunners are preparing to make an 'approach' to Newcastle United regarding Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports. The 28-year-old Brazilian has emerged as a key target for Mikel Arteta as he looks to bolster the midfield ahead of the club's title defence.

Guimaraes, currently on World Cup duty, was among Newcastle's better performers during a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, but his future at St James' Park now appears uncertain. With only a 2028 contract expiry date, and Newcastle facing potential departures of other key players to balance the books, the midfielder is viewed as a realistic target. Arsenal are understood to have already held preliminary talks with his representatives, with the Newcastle man available for approximately £60m.

The Magpies are now braced for a formal approach from the Gunners, who are also eyeing attacking reinforcements. Morgan Rogers, the Aston Villa and England international, sits high on their wishlist, though Villa are demanding in excess of £100m for the 23-year-old's signature. Combined, a double deal could reach £160m.

Arteta's ambitions extend beyond just recruitment, however. Guimaraes is actively considering his options away from Newcastle, with intermediaries sounding out several elite clubs on his behalf. Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool have all been contacted as potential destinations, but Arsenal appear to be leading the charge. The midfielder is understood to be unwilling to remain on Tyneside for a prolonged rebuild, particularly given his aspirations to compete at the very highest level.

Elsewhere at Newcastle, Lewis Hall, Sandro Tonali, and Tino Livramento are also plotting their exits, with the club facing something of a summer overhaul.
