Arsenal Step Up Chase for Bournemouth's Alex Scott with Official Approach

The Gunners have made their move. Arsenal have formally approached Bournemouth regarding a potential summer swoop for midfielder Alex Scott, with Arteta's side clearly viewing the 22-year-old English prospect as a priority target.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that preliminary discussions have taken place between the north London club and Scott's representatives, with Arsenal also opening dialogue directly with Bournemouth to assess the feasibility of a transaction. Speaking on his YouTube channel this week, Romano indicated that Scott remains firmly on Arsenal's shortlist of potential acquisitions.

"Conversations are ongoing with the agents of the player, and also with Bournemouth to understand if there's a possibility," Romano stated, adding that the midfielder represents "one of the options on the list at Arsenal" given his considerable talent.

The chase has intensified further, with reports now suggesting Arsenal have lodged an official inquiry with the Cherries. Crucially, Scott himself appears receptive to the prospect of joining the Premier League champions. The 22-year-old is keeping tabs on developments and would reportedly welcome a move to the Emirates Stadium should the opportunity materialise.

Bournemouth, however, are mounting their own resistance. The south coast club are attempting to tie Scott down to fresh terms complete with a release clause, with his current deal running through June 2028. Nevertheless, the player is understood to be exploring what else the market might offer.

A transfer fee in the region of £60 million is being mooted for Scott's services. The competition for his signature extends beyond Arsenal, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur also maintaining keen interest in the prospect, ensuring a potentially intriguing summer battle ahead.
