Gordon Plumps for Barcelona as Liverpool and Bayern Circle

The summer window is shaping up to be a busy one at St James' Park, and Anthony Gordon looks set to be at the centre of it all. The Newcastle winger has made his choice between three heavyweight suitors circling for his signature.

Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all keen on Gordon ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window. With the Magpies enduring a torrid campaign under Eddie Howe, the England international is among several big names likely to depart on Tyne and Wear.

Newcastle are holding firm on their valuation: £75million. Gordon, one of the Premier League's standout left-wingers, has become a hot property on the continent.

Bayern appeared to have the inside track back in May, with talkSPORT reporting that Gordon had already put pen to paper on terms with the German outfit. Problem is, Bayern have baulked at Newcastle's asking price and shown little willingness to meet it.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has also registered his interest in bringing Gordon to Anfield, with contact made through the player's representatives. The Reds would represent a natural fit for the 23-year-old.

Yet Barcelona have stolen a march on their rivals. Sporting director Deco made the trip to London recently and, according to reports, has successfully convinced Gordon that the Camp Nou is where his future lies. The winger is now understood to be prioritising the Catalan giants over both Bayern and Liverpool, drawn to the project being constructed by Hansi Flick, Deco and club president Joan Laporta.

Deco's London visit served a dual purpose – beyond discussing Gordon, the Barcelona hierarchy were also pursuing Chelsea's centre-forward João Pedro.

As of 27 May, Barcelona have moved into direct negotiations with Newcastle. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the clubs are locked in talks, with Gordon himself keen on the move. However, Bayern and other Premier League outfits continue to circle, keeping the door ajar should circumstances shift.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will accept Barcelona's offer or hold out for their full asking price.
