Manchester United's departure from Ruben Amorim has left at least one player genuinely bereft. Amad Diallo, who flourished under the Portuguese boss, has opened up about the emotional toll of watching his mentor depart Old Trafford.

He even took the time to message the departing manager personally. "I was very sad," Diallo admitted. Amorim's Monday exit came after just over a year in charge, during which he'd begun reversing United's fortunes—they've climbed to sixth in the Premier League after languishing in 15th the previous season. However, his tenure became untenable following a fractured relationship with the board and repeated run-ins with the media.

As for the managerial succession, whispers suggest Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could assume caretaker duties through the campaign's end. Given that Solskjaer was the man who originally brought Diallo to United, there's a certain poetry to the prospect. Yet another name is gaining traction: Kieran McKenna, the former United coach currently doing sterling work at Ipswich.

McKenna departed Old Trafford for Portman Road in 2021 and has since orchestrated a remarkable turnaround, guiding the Tractor Boys back to the Premier League before establishing them as genuine Championship contenders once more—they currently sit third in the division. His pedigree and proven track record make him an attractive proposition for those tasked with rebuilding United's ambitions.
