Ederson Deal on Track Despite Administrative Delays - Man Utd Move Pushed to July

Manchester United remain set to complete the signing of Ederson from Atalanta this summer, though paperwork and logistical complications mean the Brazilian midfielder won't arrive until early July rather than at the window's opening.

The Red Devils have already hammered out a four-year agreement with the 22-year-old, who made United his priority destination when considering his options. A fifth-year option has also been included in the contract terms.

Club-to-club negotiations have concluded, with United agreeing to pay €45m upfront plus a further €4.5m in performance-related add-ons. Multiple reputable sources, including Fabrizio Romano, confirmed the breakthrough on Tuesday.

The transfer window kicks off on June 15, and many expected Ederson to walk through Old Trafford's doors immediately. Carlo Ancelotti's decision to overlook him for Brazil's World Cup squad seemed to clear the path for a swift arrival.

Reality, however, has proved messier. Both David Ornstein and Florian Plettenberg have indicated that Ederson's completion won't happen before the first week of July. The Athletic's Ornstein noted the midfielder must still pass his medical examination, with all parties targeting early July for finalisation.

Plettenberg offered a touch more detail via social media, reporting that "organisational details" require sorting before the move can be rubber-stamped. He confirmed the €45m package—including approximately €5m in add-ons—with the contract running until 2030 plus an additional year.

There's no indication the deal will unravel. Assuming Ederson clears his medical checks, the administrative hurdles should clear within the coming weeks, allowing him to officially become United property roughly three weeks into the summer window.

United's midfield overhaul continues apace, with Casemiro departing on a free transfer and Manuel Ugarte available for sale. Ederson represents the first piece of this reconstruction puzzle.
