Yes, I know this is bold. Yes, I know there is a strong chance this doesn’t happen. Yes, I know there are plenty of other running backs that could have a better season than Barkley. No, I do not care and no, I am not afraid to take risks. I originally was going to write about why he would be a top 5 running back, but I’ve had a change of heart. Prepare to be persuaded.

Let’s Start with Barkley Himself

There really is so much to talk about when it comes to Barkley’s talent. Standing at 6 feet tall and listed as 233 pounds via, Barkley is the perfect size to be an all around great back. He is a mixture of both insane speed and insane strength, which was present at the NFL combine back in early March. Running a 4.40 40 yard dash as well as completing the 20 yard shuttle in 4.24 seconds, Barkley has the both lateral quickness and breakthrough speed to make him unstoppable. But even the speediest of runningbacks get caught once in a while. But while those players lack strength, Barkley actually excels in that category. He posted 29 bench press reps at the combine and can power clean 400 pounds. And don’t forget about those quads, too. He isn’t called “Saquads” for nothing. In his junior year, Barkley led the entire nation in broken tackles using moves, with 60 in 12 games against power 5 teams. He has great route running ability, and can catch great as well. Barkley is pure talent, and has the skill set to have major usage in all parts of the offense, not just run plays. His skill set alone, no matter what his situation is, should be enough for him to be an automatic first round pick.
