EDGE Defenders
Olivier Vernon, EDGE, New York Giants

After signing a massive 5 year, $85 million, contract with the Giants in 2016, Olivier Vernon has not quite played up to the standard of his deal. Vernon has been a solid player for the Giants, but his play should be better for a player being paid as a top edge defender in the entire league. Vernon has given the Giants some production, but most of it has been hidden stats such as QB pressures and QB hits. Vernon is a very talented player, and I want to guarantee that he will improve upon his 6.5 sacks during an injury-plagued 2017. Vernon is entering a new role, under a new Defensive coordinator James Bettcher, as an Outside Linebacker. Bettcher was previously with Arizona, and was a key component in setting up 2017 sack leader, Chandler Jones, for success. Like Jones in 2017, look for Vernon to breakout in 2018.
Projected Stats: 12.5 sacks, 48 tackles, 3 forced fumbles
Runner Up: Leonard Floyd, EDGE, Chicago Bears
