2019 NFL mock draft: Way-too-early 1st-round projections (Picks 25-32)

This is quite a premature exercise, but it is interesting to project where 2019’s top prospects may land. This class features some incredible talent along the D-line, as well as a cluster of Quarterbacks. Here are our way-too-early First Round Projections. The Draft order was determined based on Super Bowl odds from Vegas Insider.

Picks 1-8
Picks 9-16
Picks 17-24
Picks 25-32

25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Devin Bush, LB, Michigan

Jacksonville has a star-studded defense, but this unit still has a hole at MLB. Michigan product Devin Bush would be a great candidate to fill this need.

26. New Orleans Saints: Devin White, LB, LSU

The Saints could use a playmaking linebacker at the second level. White is a top linebacker in this class who could fit this role well, and he would be a good fit in the Saints’ defense.

27. Green Bay Packers: Nate Herbig, OG, Stanford

Aaron Rodgers could use some added protection up front. In 2017, the Packers’ Guards (Jahri Evans and Lane Taylor) were underwhelming. Herbig would give Green Bay an upgrade at the position and would add a young piece to help revamp the Packers O-line.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers: Dre’Mont Jones, DT, Ohio State

The Steelers have a good defensive front, but Jones could take this unit over the top. This D-line class is loaded, and getting a player of Jones’ caliber at the end of Round 1 would be a great addition.

29. Minnesota Vikings: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

Wilkins could have been a top-15 pick if he was in the 2018 NFL Draft, but he decided to return to Clemson for one final season. Yes, Minnesota is very deep along the D-line, but Wilkins will be a long term fixture at the position.

30. Los Angeles Rams: Noah Fant, TE, Iowa

The Rams could really use a Tight End to take their offense over the top. Fant is seen as a top TE prospect, and he would be a great receiving option in Sean McVay’s high powered offense.

31. Philadelphia Eagles: Bryce Love, RB, Stanford

(John Hefti/USA TODAY Sports)

Yes, the Eagles have Jay Ajayi and Corey Clement, but Bryce Love would be a great fit in Philadelphia. Love runs with great vision, and he has the breakaway speed to turn any play into a long gain.

32. New England Patriots: Shea Patterson, QB, Michigan

Tom Brady cannot play forever (we think…), and New England needs to find his eventual successor. Patterson has all the upside in the world, and transferred to Michigan to showcase what he can do. Patterson has all the tools, and if he plays well in 2018 he would be worthy to be picked here.
